Questions & answers

Formula, safety, sizing, and the wash, answered plainly, with the label behind every claim.

The formula

What is inside, and why each ingredient earned its place.

What is in Styllian horse shampoo?
Every ingredient, in label order: purified water; organic potassium cocoate, a coconut-derived cleanser that lifts dirt without stripping; acrylates copolymer, which gives the wash its body; organic glycerin to draw moisture into the hair; dimethicone, a light silicone that smooths the hair and eases the comb-through; octinoxate, a UV filter; natural panthenol (provitamin B5) for mane and tail; natural allantoin, chosen for sensitive skin; organic aloe vera to soothe the skin beneath the coat; and natural vitamin E (mixed tocopherol). Non-GMO, cruelty free, paraben free, tear free, and hexane free.
What ingredients should you avoid in horse shampoo?
Harsh sulfate detergents that strip the coat's natural oils, and any label that hides behind the word fragrance without naming what is inside. A shampoo that will not show its full ingredient list is asking for trust it has not earned. Styllian prints every ingredient on the label and lists them on this site.
How do you get a horse's coat to shine?
Shine begins with a clean, moisturized coat. Rinse thoroughly, avoid harsh detergents, and groom consistently. Styllian pairs organic glycerin with aloe and vitamin E to condition as it cleans.
Why is there a UV filter in the formula?
The formula includes octinoxate, a UV filter, to help dark coats resist sun bleaching between washes. Shade and a light sheet still do the most to protect a dark coat in the sun.

Safety & candor

The label, the Safety Data Sheet, and the honest caveats.

Is horse shampoo safe for sensitive skin?
Styllian was formulated with sensitive skin in mind: natural allantoin and organic aloe vera were selected to comfort the skin beneath the coat. As the label advises, spot-test first on any new horse: one small patch on the shoulder, then wait a day.
Is Styllian tear free?
Yes. The formula is tear free, and good practice still keeps water and lather away from the eyes and ears during the wash and rinse.
Where can I read the full ingredient list and Safety Data Sheet?
Every ingredient is printed on the bottle and listed on this site in label order. The Safety Data Sheet is available on request through the contact page.
Can people use Styllian shampoo too?
Yes. Styllian is made for the horse first, by people who have spent years making shampoos and conditioners for people, and its ingredients are ones you will recognize from shampoos at home: a gentle coconut-derived cleanser, organic aloe and glycerin, panthenol, and vitamin E, in a tear-free formula. As with any new shampoo, read the full ingredient list and spot-test first, because individual sensitivities vary.
Does horse shampoo make human hair grow faster?
No good evidence shows that horse shampoo changes the rate at which human hair grows from the follicle. Gentle cleansing and conditioning can reduce dryness and breakage, which may help hair look fuller or retain length, but that is not faster growth.

Sizing & value

Every size, one formula, and how to choose.

Which size should I choose?
Choose by how many washes you need: The Introduction (2 oz, $3.95) for trial and travel; The Everyday (16 oz, $29.95) for one horse in regular work; The Standard (32 oz, $54.95) for the committed owner; The Stable (64 oz, $99.95) for multi-horse barns; The Season (128 oz, $179.95) for a full show season. Every size holds the same formula.
Do all sizes use the same formula?
Yes. From the 2 oz introduction to the gallon, every size holds the same formula at the same strength. The only difference is how many washes are in the bottle.
How long does a bottle last?
A thoroughly wet coat needs only a small measure of formula, so a 32 oz bottle typically lasts one horse in regular work for several months of washes. Wetting the coat completely first makes the biggest difference to how far a bottle goes.

The wash

Practical guidance for a better hour at the wash rack.

How often should you wash a horse?
Most horses do well with a full shampoo wash every two to four weeks, with plain-water rinses after hard work in between. The right rhythm depends on the horse, climate, and workload.
Can you use human shampoo on a horse?
It is not recommended. Horse skin sits at a different pH than human skin. Styllian was designed around the equine coat and skin, with a gentle coconut-derived cleanser and a tear-free formula.
What is the right way to wash a horse?
Five steps: spot-test first, wet the coat completely with lukewarm water, work a modest lather with the grain of the coat, rinse until the water runs clear and then once more, and finish with the sweat scraper, towel, and a wide-tooth comb. The full ritual is written out step by step on this site.
